Ride 4 CAP

Cascade AIDS Project has formed its own team — Ride4CAP — to help fight HIV and AIDS in the Seattle-to-Portland Bike RideRide4CAP combines the fun of the Cascade Bicycle Club’s 204-mile Seattle-to-Portland Ride with your commitment to fight HIV/AIDS in a new way to build community, raise awareness, and raise essential funds.

On July 14th and July 15th, 10,000 bicyclists will accept the challenge of riding the 200 miles between Seattle and Portland.  The Annual Seattle to Portland (STP) ride, sponsored by Group Health Seattle, provides an excellent opportunity to promote wellness, to support the organizers at the Cascade Bicycle Club, and for 3,000 teams to raise money or interest for a cause.

The Seattle to Portland Ride is sold out.  But –

Ride4CAP is still open for road crew members and for folks interested in registering with us to raise funds with the idea they will register with Cascade Bicycle Club (the ride’s host agency) during the lottery day, which is yet to be announced but likely in June.  From their website, this is what they offer:

“The 2012 Group Health STP sold out on Tuesday, Feb. 21, earlier than ever before. If you didn’t manage to snag one of those 10,000 registrations, all is not lost. Here are a few options for those who have their hearts set on riding to Portland with us this year:

The event will likely reopen with a limited number of registrations, depending upon how many registered riders seek refunds. Riders have until June 14 to request refunds; after we’ve finished processing those refunds, we’ll announce a reopening on this website, on our blog, in our Braking News e-newsletter and through Facebook and Twitter. The event reopened last year, and there’s a good chance that it will reopen again this year.

We’ll also be selling a limited number of registrations through a MissionFish auction. Proceeds will support Cascade Bicycle Club Education Foundation programs that get more kids and adults riding and help make our streets safer for bicyclists, so you can feel good about spending a few extra bucks. The first registrations will be posted in March. Details will be announced as they become available, so stay tuned.”
