working choices

Looking for work? Interested in returning to the job market? Working Choices is a great resource for people who need support around employment—creating a résumé and cover letter, networking, getting job leads, interview practice and more. We offer several workshops (listed below), career planning and support for you to meet your goals.

  • Open Lab: Drop-in hours: Mondays, 10am – 2pm in Pivot
Open Lab is a self-directed job search session that aims to serve as a mini one-stop career center. Available resources include computers (internet access, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint), phone, fax, and photocopies. Staff are available to assist you with all aspects of job search — résumé, cover letter, online application, and more. Start your week with us!
  • Job Club: Group meeting: Wednesdays, 10am – 11:30am on the 8th floor
Come network with your peers, gain helpful occupational information, share job leads, opportunities, and learn new skills and strategies. Job Club aims to work through issues and challenges that come up while searching for employment in a friendly, respectful setting. We will also occasionally feature guest speakers and employers to present on employment topics. This group starts promptly at 10am so we encourage you to be on time. You are welcome to come early! The meeting room is open at 9:30am for pre-meeting networking and light breakfast.
  • Career Exploration: Small group workshop, call for times
The outcome of the Career Exploration workshop is participants have a more concrete understanding of where the accumulation of their life experiences and skills are leading them, where their passion lies and what steps to take to get to the next level. The Career Exploration process walks participants through creating career “maps” that lay out life history, accomplishments, strengths, gifts and capacities. From there, we are able to generate possible job titles and follow up with a resource planning appointment to meet employment goals. This small group workshop requires prior registration; if you are interested in attending, please contact Katy to sign up.

Working Choices is part of the Aligned Partner Program through WorkSource Oregon. We highly recommend that job seekers register with WorkSource Oregon, and take advantage of the wide variety of workshops, job opportunities and supports available to help people get back to work.
